Getting Started
What are mushroom spores?
Think of mushroom spores as nature’s seeds – but for mushrooms! Just like a plant produces seeds to reproduce, mushrooms release spores to create new mushrooms. These microscopic reproductive units are fascinating to study under a microscope and are found on the underside of a mushroom’s cap.
Here’s what makes spores amazing: a single mushroom can produce billions of spores per day. We collect these spores in sterile water to create our spore syringes, giving you millions of specimens for your microscopic research.
Unlike plant seeds, spores are incredibly tiny – so small you often can’t see them with the naked eye. But when you place a drop from our spore syringe under a microscope, you’ll discover a whole world of unique shapes, sizes, and characteristics that vary between different mushroom strains.
At PNW Spore, we specialize in Psilocybe Cubensis spores, which are completely legal to own and study for research purposes. Each strain has its own distinct spore characteristics, making microscopy an exciting way to explore the diversity of the mushroom kingdom.
